Natural Diamond Rings Australia
Earth-Mined, GIA and IGI Certified
A natural diamond is one of the rarest things on earth. Formed over billions of years beneath the surface, each stone carries a geological story no two people share.
At Rings of Australia, our natural diamond collection brings that rarity within reach - GIA and IGI certified diamonds, handcrafted in Brisbane, priced well below high-street rates. Whether you are searching for a natural diamond engagement ring, a classic solitaire, or a specific shape or carat weight, our collection covers the full range.
Every Major Cut
Natural Diamond Shapes We Carry
Every diamond shape has its own character. We carry natural diamonds across all major cuts.
Understanding Size
Carat Sizes and What to Expect
Carat is the weight of a diamond, not its visual size - though the two are closely related.
A refined, understated stone. Well-suited to pavé and side stone settings where surrounding diamonds amplify the overall look.
The most commonly purchased carat weight in Australia. Visual spread varies significantly between shapes at this size.
Noticeably larger than a 1ct stone, particularly in oval and marquise shapes where elongation exaggerates the visual spread.
A genuinely substantial stone. At 2 carats, cut quality and certification grade have a major impact on how the diamond performs in light.
A statement carat weight. A 3-carat natural diamond ring is among the most-searched diamond sizes in Australia, and our Brisbane studio can source and set stones across all major shapes at this weight.
Independently Verified
GIA and IGI Certified Natural Diamonds
GIA Certified
Gemological Institute of America
The GIA is widely regarded as the world's most trusted diamond grading authority. A GIA certificate provides an independent, rigorous assessment of cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight.
IGI Certified
International Gemological Institute
IGI certification applies the same 4C grading framework, verified by an independent laboratory. Every IGI-certified stone in our collection is graded before it reaches you.
Certification means an independent laboratory has graded the stone across cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight - verifying exactly what you are buying before you commit.
Why Natural
Why Choose a Natural Diamond?
Natural diamonds are mined from the earth and are not lab-grown. For couples who want a diamond with geological rarity, long-term resale value, and a physical history measured in billions of years, natural diamonds remain the first choice.
Geological Rarity
Formed over billions of years. No two natural diamonds are alike - each carries a unique geological fingerprint.
Long-Term Value
Natural diamonds have a well-established secondary market and tend to retain resale value over time.
Conflict-Free Sourced
Every natural diamond we carry is ethically sourced and conflict-free, with full traceability through certified suppliers.

Lab Grown Diamond Rings Australia
IGI Certified, Brisbane Handcrafted
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. Grown in a controlled environment that replicates the conditions beneath the earth, they are physically, chemically, and optically identical to mined diamonds.
At Rings of Australia, every lab grown diamond ring in our collection is IGI certified and handcrafted in our Brisbane studio, priced well below what you would pay at a high-street jeweller for the same quality. Whether you are looking for a lab grown diamond engagement ring, a specific shape, or a particular carat weight, our collection covers the full range.

Understanding Size
Carat Sizes Available
Refined and elegant. Works best in halo and pavé settings where surrounding diamonds amplify the overall look.
The most commonly purchased carat weight for lab-grown diamond rings in Australia. Significant visual impact at a fraction of the mined diamond equivalent.
Noticeably larger, particularly in oval and marquise shapes. One of the fastest-growing carat weights in our collection.
A substantial, statement stone. The price difference versus a mined 2ct stone is considerable.
At the high end of what most couples consider. Lab grown technology makes this weight genuinely accessible.
For maximum presence. Large carat weights are where lab grown diamonds deliver their most significant value difference versus mined stones.

Shop Moissanite Engagement Rings
A moissanite engagement ring gives you strong sparkle and a larger-looking stone for your budget. Choose a style, then pick your stone, shape and metal. Popular starting points are the solitaire and the halo, and every moissanite engagement ring can be personalised with a free custom design.
Moissanite Shapes
Round and Oval
Round is the classic shape and shows plenty of sparkle. A moissanite oval ring looks bigger on the hand and lengthens the finger. Browse our oval moissanite ring range.
Cushion and Emerald
Cushion has soft corners and a romantic glow. An emerald cut moissanite ring has long, clean lines. Our stones are eye-clean, which suits this open style.
Pear, Princess, Radiant, Marquise and Asscher
Pear is a teardrop. Princess is a sharp square. Radiant is a cut-corner rectangle with lively sparkle. Asscher is a square step cut. A marquise moissanite ring is long with two points, so ask for V-prongs to protect them.
Popular Moissanite Carat Sizes
Our moissanite comes in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 carat sizes. Sizes use diamond equivalent weight, so a 1-carat moissanite matches the size of a 1-carat diamond. Moissanite is about 8% lighter than diamond, so at the same true weight, it measures slightly larger. Compare millimetres, not carats.
| Size | Round width (approx.) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 carat | 6.5 mm | Classic engagement rings |
| 2 carat | 8.2 mm | Statement engagement rings |
| 3 carat | 9.4 mm | Bold rings and pendants |
| 4 carat | 10.3 mm | Luxury designs and centrepieces |
| 5 carat | 11.1 mm | Dramatic, premium pieces |
Most buyers start with 1 carat or 2 carats. Widths are estimates for round stones.
Settings and Metals
9K gold
The best value, with a lower gold content.
14K gold
A balanced choice. Try 14K white gold.
18K gold
A higher gold content and a richer colour.
Platinum
Naturally white and very durable. See platinum.
Moissanite Prices in Australia
Moissanite usually costs less than a lab-grown diamond of the same size, and far less than a natural diamond. There are three reasons. Moissanite can be grown in large quantities. Production is fast. And there is no scarcity premium.
The cost of moissanite depends on a few things. Use the table to see what moves the total.
| What you pay for | What changes it | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Loose stone | Carat size, shape and cut | Choose the size you need, and compare millimetres |
| Setting metal | 9K, 14K, 18K gold or platinum | The price rises in that order |
| Setting style | A solitaire is the simplest. Halo and three-stone add detail | A solitaire keeps the moissanite price lower |
| Loose stone vs finished ring | A loose stone is the gem only. A ring adds the setting and finishing | Compare like for like |
| Design | Custom design is free | No design fee to budget for |
What Is Moissanite?
Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone made of silicon carbide. French chemist Henri Moissan found it in 1893 in a meteorite crater. Natural moissanite is so rare that every stone sold today is grown in a lab. It is prized for its strong fire and everyday durability.
Moissanite vs Diamond, Lab-Grown and Cubic Zirconia
Moissanite sits between cubic zirconia and diamond in terms of hardness, and it shows more coloured fire than both. Use the table to compare the four stones.
| Feature | Moissanite | Lab-Grown Diamond | Natural Diamond | Cubic Zirconia |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Composition | Silicon carbide (SiC) | Carbon (C) | Carbon (C) | Zirconium dioxide (ZrO₂) |
| Mohs hardness | 9.25 | 10 | 10 | 8.5 |
| Refractive index | About 2.65 | 2.42 | 2.42 | About 2.15 |
| Dispersion (fire) | 0.104 | 0.044 | 0.044 | 0.058 |
| Price for the same size | Second lowest | Second highest | Highest | Lowest |
| Certification | In-house grading and inspection | GIA or IGI | GIA or IGI | None |
| Resale value | Low | Low | Highest of the four | Very low |
| Best suited to | Maximum fire for your budget | A real diamond for less | Mined origin and resale | Short-term wear |
Is Moissanite a Real Diamond?
No. Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different gemstone from diamond, which is pure carbon. People often search for "moissanite diamond", but moissanite is a diamond look-alike, not a diamond. A lab-grown diamond is different because it is chemically the same as a mined diamond. Moissanite is not graded on the GIA or IGI diamond scale.
Durability: What Mohs 9.25 Means Day to Day
At 9.25 on the Mohs scale, moissanite is hard enough to wear every day. Only diamond, at 10, is harder. Cubic zirconia, at 8.5, is softer. Over decades, moissanite can pick up fine scuffs where a diamond will not. Remove it before heavy work.
Why Moissanite Sparkles Differently
Moissanite shows more coloured flashes than a diamond. Its dispersion is 0.104, against 0.044 for diamond. That means more rainbow flashes, most visible in larger stones and direct light. A diamond looks whiter and crisper. Neither is better. It comes down to taste.
Moissanite vs Cubic Zirconia
Moissanite shows more coloured flashes than a diamond. Its dispersion is 0.104, against 0.044 for diamond. That means more rainbow flashes, most visible in larger stones and direct light. A diamond looks whiter and crisper. Neither is better. It comes down to taste.
1. Will It Cloud or Change Colour Over Time?
No. Moissanite does not cloud, fade or change colour with normal wear. Some older or lower-grade stones show a faint yellow or green tint under certain lights. Ours are colourless to near-colourless. View your stone in daylight and indoor light before you decide.
2. Will It Pass a Diamond Tester?
It can, with some testers. Thermal testers measure how fast heat moves through a stone, and moissanite moves heat like a diamond. So a basic tester may read it as a diamond. Testers that check electrical conductivity can tell the two apart.
3. Certification and Warranty
A moissanite certificate is not the same as GIA or IGI diamond grading. GIA and IGI grade diamonds, and moissanite is a different gemstone. At Rings of Australia, each stone is graded in-house for cut and fire and inspected before it ships. Every ring has a lifetime manufacturing warranty and 30-day returns.
4. Resale and Insurance
Moissanite holds little resale value, so buy it to wear, not to sell. Insure it for replacement cost. Keep your receipt and any appraisal safe.
Caring for Moissanite
Clean moissanite with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Then:
Remove it for the gym, cleaning and swimming.
Store it apart from other jewellery.
Check the setting once a year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is moissanite the same as cubic zirconia?
No. They are different materials with different hardness, fire and price. Moissanite is silicon carbide, and cubic zirconia is zirconium dioxide. The comparison table above shows the figures side by side.
What carat sizes and shapes do you stock?
We stock moissanite in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 carat sizes, measured in diamond equivalent weight. The nine shapes are round, oval, cushion, pear, emerald, princess, radiant, marquise and asscher.
Does moissanite come in colours other than white?
Our moissanite is colourless to near-colourless. Looking for a pink moissanite ring? For pink, blue, yellow and other colours, see our coloured lab-grown diamonds.
Can I put a moissanite in an existing diamond setting?
Often, yes, if the shape and millimetre size match the setting. Moissanite is sold by diamond equivalent weight, so compare millimetres, not carats. Ask a jeweller to check the fit before setting.
How can I tell moissanite from a diamond by eye?
It is hard to tell at a glance. Moissanite shows more rainbow flashes in direct light, while a diamond looks whiter and crisper. A moissanite-ready tester gives a clear answer.
Is moissanite ethical and conflict-free?
Yes. Moissanite is grown in a lab, so no mining is involved. That makes it a conflict-free choice.
Do you offer custom moissanite rings?
Yes. We offer a free custom CAD design with as many revisions as you want until it is perfect. Send us a sketch or photo, and our team will build the ring around your chosen stone.
What is your returns and warranty policy on moissanite?
Every ring comes with a 30-day return and a lifetime manufacturing warranty on workmanship. Our team can talk you through the full terms before you buy.
